SKILLS: Feature Writer, Editor, Copywriter

EXPERIENCE: 20 years in professional communications

Thanks for stopping by. I’m a writer and editor based in Charlotte, NC, with more than 20 years of professional communications experience.

I spend my days asking questions, talking to fascinating people and telling their stories. I love writing about people—especially unsung heroes who do extraordinary things. I’m passionate about the arts, education, social justice, travel and food. I’m a mom and avid francophile, and I write frequently about these things too.

Through careful research and thoughtful exploration, I try to raise awareness on a wide range of topics—whether it’s planning a great family vacation or examining the long-term effects of inequity in education.

My work has appeared in a variety of publications, including:

The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte Parent magazine, CharlotteFive, Crossroads Charlotte, The Language Academy of the Carolinas’ blog, Modern Parent Online, My School Rocks!, N-Focus, OnStage magazine, Piedmont Parent magazine, and Spark magazine.

See examples of my work here.

So you want to know more?

I grew up in Colorado, studied history at Brown University, dodged cabs and tourists in NYC first working in corporate communications, then in marketing for one of the country’s largest non-profit theaters. I spent a year in the South of France teaching English, then managed PR for organizations dedicated to the arts and education back in the States. Along the way, I’ve also taught French as a second language and settled here in the New South with my French-born husband and two bilingual kids.

I love pizza and artichokes, reading everything, cooking, traveling, music, theater, film, art and drinking my espresso with steamed milk and a square of dark chocolate.
